Maxx Air System
THE MAXX-AIR SYSTEM
Do you have hood clearance issues? Do you want more air flow to your engine? Now you have the option of using a 9" round air filter with the LOWEST clearance possible on your 4150 style carburetor. You are now able to use a taller air filter AND have the added advantage of using a filter top such as the K&N Extreme top for even more air flow to your engine.
Until now, the problem has been that round filter bases have only been available with a raised bottom, sometimes as much as 1" or more, to clear the float adjusters on each end of the carburetor. Your choice was to use a smaller 8" filter with a limited number of choices in heights and no ability to use a filter top, or to go to a larger oval filter. Some of these have a "lowered base" to clear the float adjusters, but also make them inaccessible and can interfere with other engine components. If you run a "Turkey Pan" (such as on a Cobra) or other cold-air box around the carburetor, this is even a bigger problem since the option of an oval filter becomes even more limited.
NOTE: You will need to measure your hood clearance to determine the air cleaner height @ a 9" diameter. See the drop down options on height.
